Chapter 301: Bloodlust
Chapter 301: Bloodlust
The farmer died instantly when Damian utilized his power to end his life. He was just an ordinary man who was not skilled in battle.
Damian felt a rush of contentment as he drained the blood from the farmer’s corpse. He didn’t stop there, and move toward the nearby houses looking for more people to kill.
It was as if something was controlling him. He knew he was doing the wrong thing, but it was just impossible for him to stop. Damian wanted to kill them.
The demonic voice kept ringing inside his mind, urging for him to kill the rest of the villagers. That’s what he did. Damian opened the door to the other house. There was a woman inside, the wife of the man Damian had just killed.
"Who are you? What are you doing?" she said.
That was the last thing she said before her body exploded, just like what happened to the man outside. After killing her, Damian drained the blood from her body utilizing his Blood Drain ability, which increased his attributes even further.
He moved to the other houses. The villagers didn’t even have enough time to react before they were dead. Damian utilized his Telekinesis ability to kill them without any problems.
There was one guard who lived in the village. The guard was slightly stronger when compared to the villagers, but that didn’t mean the guard had any chance against Damian. It died just like the others.
The once vivid village turned into a cemetery with bodies everywhere. They were all dried up with no blood left all thanks to Damian’s blood drain ability. The voice inside his head and the urge to kill only stopped after he killed everyone in the village.
’What happened? Is this the price of my Blood Drain ability?’ thought Damian.
Damian knew very well the powerful Blood Drain ability had a price. He as getting powerful with it, but it was also messing up with his mind.
Was it worth it? If he didn’t have his blood powers, he would have died long ago. So, for Damian, it was worth it. But the changes happening in his mind were something he wanted to take care of.
’After we deal with this freezing problem, I will have to look for something to help my mind.’
He left the desert village and returned to the place where they were camping. No one had realized he had left, and in the following day, they continued their journey.
The news about his killing on that village traveled fast. When they reached the first small city, the people in there were already talking about it!
"An adventurer was passing by the village this morning and saw it. He shared the information with the authorities, and they are looking for the culprit as we speak!" one of the people in the city said.
Damian and his group decided to stop in that city to restock their supplies. The journey was a long one, and they needed a lot of supplies to reach their destination.
"What are they talking about?" Elena said.
Elena tried to learn more about what had happened, but the people didn’t have that much information. Damian was glad that was the case.
They grabbed the necessary supplies and went to the stables to enter in their carriage when a group of guards appeared.
"Excuse me," one of the guards said.
Damian, as the leader, walked to speak with the guards while Elena and the others were placing the supplies inside the carriage.
"Yes? Is something wrong?" Damian said.
"We had a problem in a nearby village, and we know your carriage came from there. I need you to stay in the city for a few days till we finish our investigation. Can you do that?" the guard said.
That was not a good sign. Damian analyzed the situation to see if he could control the minds of those guards to leave without any problems, but although the guards were weak, the officer with them was not!
Damian would have to wait in the city, or else the guards would see him as a suspect.
"Of course. We will help you with your investigation," Damian said.
This time, it was the officer who said, "Can you come with me for an interrogation, then? I need to know if you saw anything suspicious last night."
"Sure."
Damian shared the information with his group, and everyone was mad about it. They didn’t have enough time to lose. The problem they had in hands was a huge one. Something that would decide the future of the tenth dungeon floor.
But there was nothing they could do about it. Elena and the others paid for someone to take care of their carriage, and went inside the city to look for a place to say. Only Damian went with the officer to the guard’s barracks for an interrogation.
"So, did you see something last night?" the officer asked.
Damian pondered before answering the officer.
’They know we came from the same direction as where that village is located, but they don’t know we slept near the village,’ he thought.
He looked at the guard and said, "No, I didn’t see anything strange. We slept and rested the whole morning not too far from here, and then came here to restock our supplies."
"But you are all outsiders, right? Travelers. Doesn’t it look strange that travelers appear here, and a whole village is killed the previous day?" the officer said.
The man had a point. If Damian was on his shoes, then he would think similarly.
"Just a coincidence, officer. I know other travelers came to this place as well, so we are not the only ones," Damian said.
A few other carriages arrived with them, so that’s why Damian knew about it.
The officer sighed, "You are correct, I can’t deny that, but you are still someone who came from the same direction. Your carriage is the only one that came from there. Anyway, tell me where you and your group slept."
Damian lied to the officer about the place they slept the other night. He had no idea if the officer would find the truth.
