Chapter 293: Setting a Trap for Summer Lowell
Chapter 293: Setting a Trap for Summer Lowell
That morning.
Summer Lowell arrived at the studio and, while sipping on her coffee, opened her email to check the messages she didn’t finish reading the day before.
The top email was sent just an hour ago.
The subject line was peculiar, only containing her name.
She opened it with a puzzled expression and, after reading the content, her face immediately changed.
After the secretary tidied up the meeting room, she came over to knock on Summer’s office door, preparing to call her for the meeting.
As the door opened, she saw Summer with a serious expression, putting on her coat.
The secretary was taken aback: "Summer, where are you going?"
"I need to go out for something, please take care of things here," Summer said as she picked up her phone and glanced over the email once again, "You’ll be in charge of everything, no matter what it is."
The secretary dared not shoulder such a heavy responsibility, and after failing to stop Summer from leaving, she personally escorted her downstairs, secretly taking a picture of the car’s license plate, and informed Assistant Collins about it as soon as Summer left.
After listening to the description, Assistant Collins also felt something was wrong, so he quickly informed Maxim Sinclair.
After the meeting, Maxim pondered what could have made Summer so flustered, and he could only think of one possibility.
That it was related to her ancestry.
But her ancestry, aside from himself, no one should know about it.
However, to be safe, Maxim still asked Matthew to arrange some people to search for Summer using the license plate number provided by the secretary.
This wasn’t to control her whereabouts.
The main reason was that she left in such a flurry and urgency, Maxim was very worried.
He wanted to know what she was up to, so he could have peace of mind.
Following the address given in the email, Summer arrived at a chaotic old neighborhood in the southern part of the city.
Because it was so messy, the map navigation was useless.
With no other options, Summer could only get out of the car and ask for directions on foot, looking for the place mentioned in the email.
This delay took more than an hour.
When she finally found the place, Summer saw Tina Huxley staring at her with cold eyes, and she immediately realized something was wrong.
She shouldn’t have come here so rashly just by reading the email. Tina, that lunatic, must have more tricks waiting after luring her here.
Summer cautiously took a step back, trying to retreat to the bustling street behind her and make her escape.
Tina saw through Summer’s intent in one glance: "Run, but I guarantee if you do, I will destroy all the information about your parents in the next moment, making it impossible for you to find any clues in the future."
Her words worked, making Summer stop as she coldly eyed Tina: "What exactly do you want?"
"Want to know what I’m up to? Then come over to my side, and I’ll tell you slowly."
Tina laughed loudly as she spoke, her voice full of madness.
Summer felt chills just from hearing the laughter.
Tina is indeed a lunatic; she shouldn’t have come.
Summer glanced at a few people peeking around nearby and, after weighing her options, decided not to go over: "Thank you, Miss Tina, for your effort in searching for information for me, but unfortunately, I no longer need it now."
She turned and walked away, ignoring Tina’s frantic screams behind her.
Coming out onto the street, the driver who had brought her was anxiously looking for her. Upon seeing her, he quickly rushed over: "Ma’am, I’m so glad to find you; I was nearly scared to death."
"I just went in to meet someone, no need to be so afraid. Look around, there are lots of people, nothing will happen."
Summer gave him a polite smile, opened the car door, and got inside, "I’ve taken care of my business, we can go back now."
"Alright, ma’am."
On the way back, while stopped at a red light, the driver recalled the call from Assistant Collins and casually reminded Summer, "The place earlier may look busy on the surface, but it’s a mixed bag with all kinds of people. Especially some dangerous individuals with criminal records in the police system. Ma’am, you should have taken me with you earlier."
Summer was lost in thought about Tina and the information she mentioned, not really listening to what the driver said.
Seeing her expression, the driver thought she didn’t believe him, so he shared what he witnessed, "When I was looking for you earlier, I saw some idle hooligans gathered, speaking obscenely, and those two kept staring at the street you just came out of."
What he said brought Summer back to reality.
She looked at the driver who was still talking, then thought about Tina being alone on the street.
She had a vague sense of something being wrong.
After pondering, she suddenly reached out, grabbing the seat in front of her: "Quickly turn the car around, head back to the street I just came from."
"What?"
The driver doubted his ears, having emphasized how dangerous it was there, yet she seemed intent on going.
Seeing him hesitate, Summer gave him a push, "Do as I say, quickly turn back; there’s a girl over there, I’m worried about her."
The driver understood and turned the wheel, heading back, "Is she your friend? Why didn’t she come out with you earlier?"
"No, she’s the one who lured me there, intending to set a trap for me."
Summer chuckled as she spoke.
What a bizarre turn of events.
Though puzzled, the driver had no hesitation in his actions.
Within a minute or two, they were back on the street.
Fortunately, it wasn’t rush hour, with fewer cars on the road; otherwise, it would’ve taken much longer.
As soon as the car stopped at the intersection, Summer pushed open the door and dashed out, stopping after a few steps to pull the driver along, "Could you accompany me? I can’t handle many people by myself."
Already prepared to accompany her, the driver retrieved a small dagger from the trunk and discreetly hid it in his hand, "Of course, sir asked me to be your driver because I’m a capable bodyguard."
Summer was momentarily stunned, realizing how well-equipped Maxim had made sure she was.
"Ma’am, I think I hear cries for help," the driver said, listening attentively, "Perhaps you should stay here; it’s too chaotic with all kinds of people inside, not suitable for you."
"It’s alright; I’ll stay right behind you and run at the first sign of trouble."
Summer urged him to move quickly; Tina must be in danger going alone.
As she expected, Tina was indeed in a dangerous situation now.
At that moment, Tina was holding a long stick, looking at the people in front of her.
